TWILL DRESS — VESSEL

A dress that takes its cue from Picasso’s ceramics and attempts a new silhouette.
Particular care went into the fullness at the panel seams; the design is based on an original line the director built by cutting and pasting cloth.
Using a fabric with real yarn density, it is engineered to rise naturally on gathers alone, giving a silhouette that follows the body and still holds volume.
Worn classically with a jacket, or otherwise, it takes on different expressions with the styling.

-Material-

Polyester was born more than half a century ago.
In a British laboratory, two chemists spun thread out of petroleum. Not an imitation of nature, but something closer to a declaration addressed to it.

It swept the world through the boom years, became the uniform of the space age, and kept pushing the limits of sport. It fell out of favor once, and returned——not because the material changed, but because the resolution of the times finally caught up.

It does not store time the way linen does; it holds a composure that stays beautiful. A beauty that does not change——or a strength that has no need to.

It carries the rhythm of life that Picasso’s ceramics give off.
The constructed design, with its roundness and swell, follows the body naturally and changes expression with every movement.
Each time the needle enters the cloth, form arrives on instinct, and order and a slight distortion answer one another.
As though wearing the beauty of form hidden in daily life, it brings a new discovery, and a new dialogue, each time it is worn.
